Welcome to Prayersword. May these suggested prayers from the Word bless your prayer life and increase your knowledge of God. The following points explain the ethos of this website:

  • Prayersword exists to promote Christian prayer on most topics common to man by using Biblical terminology and principles consistent with the nature of God as revealed in His Word.
  • I wrote these prayers to help people who, at times, are at a loss in how to pray appropriately in times of difficulty. I began to search the Scriptures to see what could be prayed in accordance with Scripture and compiled thousands of prayers on everyday life and experiences to make freely available here on this prayer website.
  • These prayers use adjectives and sentences from *English translations of the Holy Bible: which show God as totally aware of the human condition; thereby encouraging us to more fully share our thoughts and feelings with Him. They are for inspiration and encouragement to believe that our God does not find honesty disagreeable, or arrogant. Do check out the Bible references given using the tool provided – just click the reference.
  • Some people will feel comfortable praying these suggested prayers ‘word for word’, whilst others may prefer to check out the reference and make their own prayer according to God’s Word themselves. Adapt the masculine to feminine, singular to plural, third party, etc. according to your situation.
  • We are asked to, “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests”, Ephesians 6:18. The hope is that these prayers increase confidence and liberty in prayer through seeing God’s character, attributes, and attitudes as shown.
  • These prayers are based on the belief that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). However, statements from Psalms and Proverbs, etc, should only be taken as a general principle and not as an absolute in every case. As the Biblical references are checked out, the reader should find the prayers are interpreted in a fashion that does not contradict traditional Christian beliefs as set out in the whole Bible or The Apostles Creed.
  • Biblical promises are often conditional and discretionary, and it is wise to have Jesus’ attitude of, “Not my will, but Yours be done”.
  • We are not looking for clauses to obtain our rights, but seeking to know what is acceptable communication to Almighty God.
  • God says; “My ways are not your ways”, be open to His unique response to your prayers. “No” or “Not yet” is an answered prayer.
  • Vocalising these prayers will help your mind to stop wandering.
  • Jesus dealt with the devil by speaking Scriptures mostly, and Daniel did not dwell on demonic activity, but talked to God even more.
  • “You do not have because you do not ask.” James 4:2. The prayer in itself is not as important as our dependency on Him alone; God is more concerned about our spiritual growth than our comfort.
  • Your behaviour and attitude in a situation may affect the outcome; James reminds us, “It is the effectual prayer of a righteous man that avails much.” Check out whether there is any un-forgiveness, resentment, or un-confessed sin on your part. James 5:16.
  • Occasionally a prayer will be addressed to the Holy Spirit asking Him to remind us, or teach, or convict us; this is based on Jesus’ statements found in John 14:26, John 16:8.
  • Jesus is praying (interceding) now (Hebrews 7:25) and the Holy Spirit is also praying for us who are Believers (Romans 8:26-27).
  • Do not replace dependence on Jesus Christ with any person, or anything else, that is helpful. (1 Corinthians 7:35 and 2 Corinthians 11:3).
  • Those who have Domestic Violence, Abuse or Suicide issues, please seek professional advice on how to protect yourself as well as prayer support.
  • Some may find it useful to do five minutes praying in a chosen subject each day working from where you last prayed. Others may want to cover say four subjects each day in the same fashion, totalling twenty minutes on Discipleship, Family, Congregation, Finance, etc.
  • The content of Prayersword will increase each month, therefore, the order of prayers in each category may change too.
  • My purpose in preparing Prayersword for all those who have not met me personally is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in Whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Amen. Colossians 2:1-3 NIV, (2 Corinthians 1:20).
